Minden Village to host block party

Minden Village will be hosting a block party 4 p.m. June 29 in conjunction with the Carson Valley Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours.

Guests at the event will receive a passport that can be stamped by the businesses, receive a ticket book of offers from village merchants, and be entered into a drawing.

A portion of the proceeds from the sale of commemorative T-shirts, art, wine and food will be donated to the Coalition for a Boys & Girls Club in Carson Valley.

Minden Village, located on Lucerne Street on Highway 395 now has 20 businesses in its stone and stucco-crafted buildings. The center is anchored by supermarket Sierra Nevada Trading Co.

There are service and retail shops as well as several eateries from which to choose, including Wasabi's, Bella Vita, Quiznos, and 88 Cups Internet Café, Sweetie Pies, and soon-to-be-opening Cold Stone Creamery.

Services include mortgage and title companies, Lake Tahoe Mortgage, Carson Valley Mortgage, and First American Title, as well as financial organizations, AG Edwards, Charles Schwab, and Business Bank.

Medical services in the Minden Village complex and include Carson Valley Dental Care, Merry Medical, Alpine Medical, and BodyWise Physical Therapy and Fitness.

Also in the center are Artisans International Gallery which offers art from more than a dozen countries and Bella Vita which offers imported cheeses, specialty wine and gourmet foods.
