Worshipful Master W. Myles Eshelman of Carson Valley Masonic Lodge No. 33 in Gardnerville presented a check to Dick Kale, coordinator, academic and student affairs of Western Nevada Community College to establish the Andy and Ruth Popa Scholarship Fund.
Many students attending WNCC are sponsored by corporation or business funds requiring the student to take the course and submit a passing grade to receive reimbursement. The Andy and Ruth Popa Scholarship Fund is provided for students, as needed, to pay "up front" registration cost. Upon successful completion and reimbursement by their corporation or business, the student is expected to repay the fund; thereby, making the revolving fund available for another student.
Andy and Ruth Popa were former residents of Carson Valley and avid supporters of WNCC. This fund was established in their memory.
