Medics respond to toddler in pool

A 2-year-old boy who wasn't breathing was pulled from a Gardnerville Ranchos pool about 4 p.m. Tuesday.

East Fork medics and Douglas County deputies responded to the address on Long Valley Road after receiving the report. Medics administered oxygen at the scene and the boy was breathing and crying before taken by ambulance to Carson Valley Medical Center in Gardnerville.

Doctors were preparing the boy for transport by Care Flight in Reno.

"He was crying rather angrily," said East Fork paramedic Brian Trute. "We like to hear crying. If they don't have the energy to cry, they're in trouble."
