Bluegrass band features local musician



The second annual Bluegrass on the Comstock features bluegrass and traditional music in Virginia City. The event begins Friday from 7:30 a.m. until the musicians drop with an open jam at the old V&T freight depot. Saturday from noon to 8:30 p.m. bands will play at Miner's Park followed by an open jam at the old V&T freight depot; and from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday will be more music at Miner's Park.


Bands scheduled over the weekend are the F-150s, Straight Ahead Bluegrass, Back Forty, Cool River Trio, Digger Davis, Too Tall For Our Hair, Old Melodeon Minstrels, Nevada Rain and Acoustic Blend.


Back Forty's banjo player is Roger Pierce, a Foothill Road resident.


Ticket prices are $25 for a two-day pass, $15 for a one-day pass, children younger than 12 are free. Bring a lawn chair. Food, refreshments and adult beverages will be available. For more information, visit bluegrassonthecomstock.com or call 882-6013.
