Michelle "Shelli" Marie (Manchester) Hodges


1961-2006

A celebration of life is 10 a.m. Friday at Crossroads Nazarene Church, 1788 Pinenut Rd. in Gardnerville for Michelle "Shelli" Marie (Manchester) Hodges who died June 30 in Gardnerville after a year's battle with breast cancer.


Mrs. Hodges was born Aug. 17, 1961, in Encino, Calif., to Maynard Manchester and Sharri Holman, who preceded her in death, in August 2005.

Mrs. Hodges grew up and lived most of her youth in Simi Valley, Calif. Her first marriage blessed her with a daughter, Danielle in 1986, who is now living in Tennessee. Mrs. Hodges lived in Southern California until she remarried in 1997 and moved to Fresno, Calif., with her daughter and husband Lennie. There she had two more daughters; Bailey and Mattie. In 2004 they moved to Gardnerville to be closer to her mom and extended family. She had a great love toward her faith in Christ and her family. Her favorite hobbies include crafting, scrapbooking and organizing events. She enjoyed sharing her gifts with her family, friends and community.


She is survived by her husband, Rev. Leonard E. Hodges Jr.; her daughters, Danielle Tierney,19, Bailey, 6, and Mattie, 4,; her sister Meleesa Pellerino and brother-in-law Robert of Grass Valley, Calif.; her nephews Mykel, Jordan and Aaron; her father Maynard Manchester of Tucson, Ariz.; her stepfather Pastor Gene Holman of Gardnerville, her mother-in-law Essie Hodges of Fresno and her grandparents Tim and Peck Nagel of Gardnerville, as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Arrangements are in the care of FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home in Gardnerville.


The family requests memorial contributions be made in lieu of flowers to Living Word Fellowship "Wheels for Ted" fund for Shelli's uncle Ted Nagel, a quadriplegic who needs a new electric wheel chair. Send contributions to Living Word Fellowship, 824 Pba'ul (Dark Bush), Gardnerville, Nev., 89460.
