Marino 'Monte' William Bianchi

1920-2006

A memorial service for Marino "Monte" William Bianchi, 85, a 56-year resident of Carson City, will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Gardnerville.

A reception will follow at 3 p.m. at the Carson City Senior Center.

Mr. Bianchi died Jan. 23, 2006, at home. He was born March 1, 1920, near the East Walker River south of Mason Valley, to Benedetto and Giuseppa Bianchi.

He married Eileen Christianson on Aug. 24, 1957, in Northwood, Iowa.

Before coming to Carson City he lived in Smith Valley.

Mr. Bianchi was a 1937 graduate of Smith Valley High School and a graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno in 1950 where he earned a bachelor of science in mathematics.

He worked as a civil engineer and a hydrologist for the U.S. Department of the Interior's Bureau of Reclamation from 1950-1980.

Mr. Bianchi served in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1941-1946.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and served on the boards of the Proscenium Players, the Nevada Federal Credit Union and Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Mr. Bianchi also coached Little League baseball and volunteered for the Nevada Literacy Coalition and Books for the Blind.

Among his survivors are his wife of Carson City; children Brent and Kathy Hoy-Bianchi of Grass Valley, Calif., and Maria Bianchi of Minneapolis, Minn.; grandchildren Dylan and Chloe Hoy-Bianchi of Grass Valley and Harrison Riddle of Las Vegas; and four generations of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Bianchi has willed his body to the University of Nevada, Reno Medical School for research.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer society, Heifer International or the Trinity Lutheran Church Baby Grand Piano Fund.

David Francis Sullivan

1991-2006

A memorial service is set for 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Gall Catholic Church in Gardnerville for David Francis Sullivan of Indian Hills.

David died Jan. 16, 2006 in Reno. He was 14.

David was born May 25, 1991, to Donald Francis Sullivan of Indian Hills and Dora (Dee) Best of Reno.

He was home-schooled. He enjoyed swimming at Lake Tahoe, Windsor waterslides, hockey and snowboarding.

David was an accomplished pianist who enjoyed playing for his family and friends. He received the Young American Award for his performance.

David was a member of St. Gall Catholic Church where he was an altar server.

He is survived by his parents, half-sister Joyce Sullivan, sister Shannon Burk, brothers Bryan, Anthony and John, and stepmother Marion Peters.

A gathering for family and friends at the St. Gall Pastoral Center, 1343 Centerville Lane, will follow the memorial service.

To honor David's ambition to become a firefighter, donations may be made to the Jacks Valley Volunteer Fire Department, in care of the East Fork Fire Department, PO Box 218, Minden, 89423.
