Two men were arrested Wednesday on drug trafficking charges after the Douglas County Special Weapons and Tactics team conducted pre-dawn raids in two Gardnerville neighborhoods.
Juan Simental Garcia, 38, was arrested for two counts of trafficking in methamphetamine after a raid in the 1500 block of Church Street.
Wesley Zade Bohannon, 23, was arrested for two counts of trafficking in methamphetamine after a raid in the 1400 block of Mission Street.
Garcia has a previous felony conviction for a 1992 drug arrest in California, according to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.
Both men are to appear in East Fork Justice Court today.
Each count of trafficking is a category B felony, punishable by up to 15 years in prison and a fine of not more than $100,000.
If convicted, Bohannon's penalties could be doubled because the crimes allegedly were committed within 1,000 feet of a Gardnerville park.
The raids were the conclusion of a three-week investigation into the alleged methamphetamine distribution activities of Garcia and Bohannon, according to the sheriff's office.
The DCSO Street Enforcement Team and the Tri-Net Task Force conducted the investigation jointly.
The sheriff's office said during the investigation approximately 3 ounces of methamphetamine was purchased from the defendants.
Garcia was jailed on $50,000 bail. Bohannon's bail was set at $25,000.
