Sapp wins Tahoe Basin league opener



Douglas senior Holden Sapp got his ski season off to a blazing start, winning the first Tahoe Basin Ski League race of the season Thursday at Alpine Meadows.


Sapp recorded a combined time of 1:15.44 on the course to take the victory.


In the boys' standings, Truckee won with 170 points and was followed by Incline (157 points), North Tahoe (149), South Tahoe (145), Douglas (109) and Whittell (86).


In the girls' standings, North Tahoe won the race with 178 points and was followed by South Tahoe (167), Truckee (151), Whittell (133), Douglas (114) and Incline (17). Truckee's Michelle Delumyea won the girls' race in a time of 1:20.77.


The next league race is a giant slalom today at 10 a.m. at Kirkwood.
