Sponsorships and raffle items needed for spring fashion show fundraiser

The Sierra Nevada Active 20-30 Club will host its second annual Spring Fashion Show Extravaganza at Genoa Lakes Golf Course, 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. April 23. The benefit will also feature a champagne brunch. Proceeds during the event will be donated to special needs children and their organizations within Douglas County.

This year, the women's club will exclusively partner with Dillard's department store, set to open on the south end of Reno in mid-March. This opportunity will allow for more clothing on the runway, and give Carson Valley patrons a chance to view what Dillard's has to offer without taking the drive to Reno. The event will showcase clothing for men, women and children and will suit every occasion.

The event will also showcase a silent auction and a raffle with proceeds also going to Douglas County youth and their programs.

Silent auction items, such as a weekend getaway at Caesars Tahoe, tickets to the Oakland A's and San Francisco Giants, wine baskets, specialty massages and a one-year supply of milk delivered to your door, will be used to raise money for the children of Douglas County.

Community projects and fundraisers are at the heart of the Sierra Nevada Active 20-30 Club. Each woman in the club is between the ages of 20 and 39, and anyone is welcome to join.

20-30 clubs, which are in nine different countries, donate thousands of dollars a year back to their community in support of local charities and children's groups. Events such as the Fashion Show Extravaganza are staged for the benefit of children throughout the area.

"This is our biggest event of the year," said Jacquie Manoukian, chairperson for the event. "It's a lot of fun to organize and I feel it's our way of giving back to the community. Our club is about making our projects work for everyone."

Whether it's assisting with physically, mentally or socially challenged children, providing aid to youth groups, or participating at various fundraising events, all members contribute to the betterment and welfare of the community and its youth.

The club is looking for sponsorship donations, silent auction and raffle items to help support the event. Please contact the club or log onto its Web site for more information.

Ticket prices are $30 in advance and $35 at the door and can be purchased via e-mail request to info@sierranv2030.org, or by calling 691-3982. It is recommended that tickets are pre-purchased. For more information or to join the club, please visit their Web site at www.sierranv2030.org
