Frank C. Saunders

1921-2006

Frank C. Saunders, 85, an 18 year resident of Genoa, died Aug. 15, 2006. Mr. Saunders was born April 2, 1921, in Foster, Wash., to Bertrand and Irene Saunders.

Mr. Saunders served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1942 to 1945. Before moving to Genoa, Mr. Saunders resided in Oakland, Calif., for 25 years where he was an active member of the Oakland Chinese Golf Club.

He worked as a sheet metal man and later as a manufacturer's representative. He enjoyed learning, poetry, opera and all things related to nature.

He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Rosalie; his daughter Rosalee Jo Saunders of Alameda, Calif.; daughter Robyn Jo Saunders and son-in-law Patrick Sweeney of Gardnerville; granddaughter and husband Cori and Henry Schmitt of San Leandro, Calif.

Arrangements are in the care of FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home in Gardnerville.
