Gardnerville masseuse sets up table at Focus

Jasmine Gouveia felt her experience as a science teacher would be useful when she decided to go into massage therapy.

"I always wanted to do massage and I knew with my science background I could understand how it worked," said Gouveia.

Gouveia is a licensed massage therapist who provides relaxation, deep tissue, therapeutic and chair massage - all helping to increase circulation, decrease anxiety and reduce pain.

"I do a lot of therapeutic massage and I always hear how they feel like a new person when they get off the table," she said. "They say, 'Wow, I haven't felt pain-free until today.'"

Gouveia said people comment how they shouldn't have waited so long to get a massage.

"It's not just luxury - we need it," she said.

Gouveia is working with an aesthetician and manicurist to offer a package deal of a half-hour massage, half-hour facial and pedicure for $100. Specials are offered throughout the year so call for availability.
