Douglas split favors Angle by seven votes

The tightest race of the evening appears to be that for Congressional District 2.

Predictions that Douglas County, which has the second highest concentration of Republicans in the district, would have a big influence on the race proved to be untrue.

Only seven votes gave Assemblywoman Sharron Angle the edge in Douglas County over Secretary of State Dean Heller. Angle, who represents Reno, had a more than 2,000 vote edge in Washoe County.

With only Lincoln County left to report, Heller has a slim 366-vote margin over Angle, based on vote totals for all counties appearing on the Nevada Secretary of State's Web site.

Carson City vvoted overwhelmingly for Heller and other cow counties such as Churchill, Nye, Humboldt and Lander leaned heavily toward Heller.

The portions of Clark County in the congressional district voted for Heller, with Angle nearly edged out by third place holder Dawn Gibbons.

Whoever wins will face Carson Valley resident Jill Derby in the November general election.
