A fire is burning on the south side of Sierra Creek Canyon, near Genoa Peak.
The fire appears to have been caused by a lightning strike at about 8:15 p.m. Friday.
It is burning in timber well above the Valley and appears to be slowly spreading.
The National Weather Service is predicting more thunderstorms over the weekend.
