New member joins Genoa board

The Genoa Town Board just welcomed Kathleen DeSocio to its ranks.

Kathleen, who goes by Kitty, was appointed by the Genoa Town Advisory Board to fill the vacant position.

She has been a resident of Genoa for the past six years after moving here from New York.

Kitty was one of three applicants for the position.

She said she thinks she stood out among the other applicants because of her extended work experience. Kitty studied business administration at SUNY Cobleskill and Siena College and has worked as a data administrator, programmer, and financial accountant, as well as other administrative positions. She currently works as a potter out of her home.

Kitty also has a lot of community service experience and has volunteered for various organizations.

"My interest is related to my interest in the town of Genoa and my belief that I can help make a difference," she said. "I think those who know me would agree that I am not a 'yes' woman, but someone who looks at all options with an analytical mind."

As for future plans, Kitty said she will continue to follow the direction of the board.

"My plans and objectives are to follow suit with the efficiency the board members of the past have established."

Kitty said she is really looking forward to her position on the board.

"I love Genoa," she said. "The board members hold this place special and I want to continue that which I hold dear to me."
