Lady Tigers sweep South Tahoe



Lauren Hoppe hit a monster home run and Mitzi Olsen turned in another solid pitching performance as the Douglas softball team picked up a 7-2 victory in game one of a doubleheader against South Tahoe Saturday.


Stephanie Harper picked up her second win of the season and Felicia Imelli drove in three runs in game two as the Tigers won 9-3 to improve to 9-6-1 overall and 8-4 in Sierra League play.


In game one, Olsen struck out 12 and walked two while scattering four hits over seven innings to improve to 6-3 on the year.


Olsen also doubled in the game and Hoppe drove in three runs and went 2-for-4 at the plate.


Tisha Luken drove in two runs and Kayla Moore drove in another in the win. Skyler Zulian and Luken each collected two hits and Harper and Moore each had one.


In game two, Hoppe drove in two runs on two hits, and Morgan Barone, Harper and Zulian each drove in one.


Hoppe and Barone each doubled and Harper struck out five and allowed four hits and two runs in the win.


JV


Douglas dominated South Tahoe last week, taking a 24-0 victory in five innings at Lampe Park.


Emmy Frank pitched two innings with five strikeouts and Megan Michitarian made her pitching debut with six strikeouts in three innings.


Christine Ward blasted a triple, a double and two singles, MacKenzie Cauley and Danelle Freitas both had doubles, Marina Diaz had two singles and Chloe Trudell had a single.


Douglas has outscored its opponents 139-11 on its way to a 10-0 record so far this season.
