Commissioners put sales tax on ballot

Douglas County commissioners agreed to place a .5 percent sales tax increase to support law enforcement on the November ballot on Thursday.

The money would go to hire, equip and provide facilities for law enforcement officers and the criminal justice system.

- Construction of a roundabout was approved. State representatives said advertising for the work would begin next week and construction would start after Douglas High School lets out for summer. When students return to school next fall, construction should be completed.

- An ordinance that would allow animal rescuers to have more than three dogs was delayed while the county gathers more information.
