A teenage boy allegedly told his target, "you're dead, you're dead," as he shot twice at a 17-year-old on Goni Road, according to court documents.
Osvaldo Carrillo, 15, is charged as an adult with attempted murder in the May 25 shooting that left Jesus Garcia, 17, with a gunshot wound to the chest.
Investigators say Carrillo and Garcia exchanged words at Carson High School and allegedly agreed to meet on Goni Road to "fight."
En route to the location, Carrillo allegedly stopped at his home and retrieved the gun.
As the two confronted each other about 8 a.m. on the North Carson City road, Carrillo allegedly pulled a .22 cal. revolver from his waistband and shot twice at Garcia, striking him once.
Carrillo and an unidentified 16-year-old companion fled the scene shortly after Garcia left and drove himself to the hospital.
According to Detective Dena Lacy the bullet punctured a lung. Garcia has since been released from Washoe Medical Center.
Under Nevada law, murder or attempted murder are not considered delinquent acts and do not fall under the jurisdiction of juvenile courts.
Carrillo was booked into the Carson City jail on May 25.
The following day his parents put their Northridge home up as collateral for their son's $75,000 bail, according to court documents. Carrillo's companion was also arrested on a charge of accessory to attempted murder.
District Attorney Noel Waters said the alleged conspirator's case will remain in the juvenile courts. His name is being withheld because he is charged as a minor.
A hearing to determine if enough facts exist for Carrillo to be tried on the charge is set for July 7.
