S&S Motorsports, Regier win again

Troy Regier, driver of the Carson City-based No. 98 S&S Motorsports super modified race car, always finds a way to do things right.

Even when he's up against the odds.

The Supermodified Racing League tour stopped at Magic Valley Speedway in Twin Falls, Idaho, on Saturday for the fifth race on the league's schedule. The main event was 40 laps on the 1/3-mile track and Regier captured his fourth main event victory of the season.

Steve Shaw, co-owner of the car, said Regier posted second-fast qualifying time for the evening.

"When he came in the pits we found there was a cracked fuel injector into the No. 3 cylinder," Shaw said. "So, we worked on the car a bit and got it set up for Troy to take back out racing."

Regier, a resident of Dinuba, Calif., won his heat race and with a number 8 invert drawn for the main event, started in the seventh spot - fourth row inside.

"It didn't take him long, but he made his way through traffic and won the race," Shaw said.

The league takes on Rocky Mountain Raceways in West Valley City near Salt Lake City today. It is a 3/8-mile asphalt oval track.
