Douglas baseball sweeps South Tahoe

Chad Walling went 2-for-2 with two RBI and a triple to help out his own cause as the Douglas High baseball team defeated South Tahoe 21-6 in game two of a doubleheader Saturday afternoon at Douglas High.


Walling struck out four and walked only one to pick up the win on the mound. He improved to 3-2 on the year with the win.


Willie Morgan and Nate Whalin each drove in two runs and Ryan Pruitt, Jordan Hadlock and Chris Kinsley each drove in one.


Hadlock went 2-for-2 and Pruitt went 2-for-3.


South Tahoe pitchers hit four Douglas batters with pitches in the first two innings, and Douglas' D.J. Brady was hit twice. The Tigers also drew 10 walks as a team in the game and capitalized on eight Viking errors to cruise to the win.


Jaime Moore went 3-for-3 with two RBI and a double to lead the Vikings while catcher Buck Pershing drove in two runs as well. Pershing and Steve Yarrow each went 2-for-3 at the plate.


Tyson Estes pitched a shutout in the first game, leading the Tigers to a 10-0 win. Estes is now 4-1 on the year.


Douglas improved to 12-5 overall and 6-0 in league play on the year. The Tigers are 5-0 at home and will travel to Manogue Tuesday for a game starting at 3:30 p.m.
