Pfister is recognized

Staff Reports

E.J. Pfister, Head Golf Professional and Director of Instruction at Thunder Canyon Golf Club has been named one of the 25 top golf instructors in the Northern California Golf Guide published by Sacramento Magazine in March.

Pfister, a former NCAA individual and team champion from Oklahoma State University, played on the PGA Tour in 1992 and on what is now the Nationwide Tour from 1993 to 1999. He continues to provide advice to Tour players today while he balances his responsibility for running tournaments, merchandizing, outside sales and teaching at the Thunder Canyon Golf Academy.

A Master Instructor at the Jim McLean Golf School in LaQuinta, Calif., for more than four years and Head Golf Professional at East Aurora Country Club in Buffalo, N.Y., Pfister annually videotapes PGA Tour players at different events to continually build his video archive for instruction. He has recent footage of all the top golf swings in his collection.

Pfister is an avid student of the game who regularly takes instruction from nationally recognized professionals such as Jim Flick, Bob Toski and Jim McLean. He's also worked with the top sports psychologists in the nation. He effectively shares his knowledge with his students by providing them with great images through the use of computerized teaching aides.

In 2000, Pfister co-hosted Junior Golf Academy Live with Jim McLean on the Golf Channel.

Thunder Canyon's Golf Academy at 19 Lightning W Ranch Road in Washoe Valley is open to the public. For more information, contact Pfister, (775) 882-0882 or ejpfister@thundercanyoncc.com.
