Osheroff wins in Western Regionals

Ahron Osheroff of the Carson Bulldogs Wrestling Club recently accomplished something that few Northern Nevada wrestlers have been able to do - win a title at the USA Western Regional Championships.

Osheroff, who just completed his sophomore year at Carson High, took first in the 140-pound cadet freestyle division at the USA Wrestling Championships now being held in Winnemucca. Osheroff won the title decisively, beateing Oregon's Mike Deskins 13-2 in the finals.

Bulldog coach Ken Chalk said a major reason why Osheroff won was his hard work during the off season in which he has attended two wrestling camps.

Another Bulldog and Carson High wrestler, Jonas Schenzel, took sixth in the 171-pound cadet division. Two other Carson High and Bulldog wrestlers - Owen Craugh and Robbie Bozin - also competed in the cadet division.

Four other Bulldog wrestlers are competing in the schoolboy division for grades eight under in the regionals that conclude today - Ricky and Willy McDonald, Pat Craugh and Todd Banko.
