Phillip Charles Ferguson

A memorial service for Phillip Charles Ferguson, 74, a Dayton resident for the past two years, will be at 4 p.m. June 26 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Gerrit Schilder, 66 Mary Lane, Chalfant Valley, Bishop, Calif. A celebration of life will follow.

Mr. Ferguson died June 14, 2004, in Carson City. He was born Dec. 31, 1929, in Long Beach, Calif., to James R. and Gertrude Ferguson.

He graduated from Upper Lake High School in 1949.

Before moving to Dayton, he lived in the Eastern Sierra for 22 years, coming from the Central Valley of California. He was a Nevada resident for 33 years.

Mr. Ferguson retired in 1979 from the California Division of Forestry as a fire captain for 15 years. He had several careers in his lifetime.

He was a member of Elks Lodge 1603 in Bishop for 32 years and a lifetime member of the 4Q Fishing Club.

Among his survivors are his wife, Dorothy; daughters Carol Dockins of Ukiah, Calif., Patricia Thomas of Madera, Calif., Doretta Milton of Fresno, Calif., and Lottie Schilder of Bishop; a sister; two brothers; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

FitzHenry's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
