Mrs. Bergevin died June 6, 2004, at Tahoe Pacific Hospital Meadows in Reno. She was born Jan. 28, 1921, in Gardnerville to Seth and Hazel Coyan Bergevin.

She spent the first five years of her life in Markleeville, Calif., in the winters and at Blue Lakes, Calif., in the summers. The family moved, and for the next five years, she attended school in Minden.

Her parents bought a hotel in Gardnerville named Seth's Hotel (it later became the Pyrenees Hotel and now is the Aladdin Flower Shop). She attended Gardnerville Elementary School and graduated from Douglas High School in 1938. She also attended Sacramento Junior College.

Ms. Bergevin worked in the bookkeeping department at the Minden Butter Co. then for the C.O.D. Garage as a bookkeeper. She moved to Hawthorne and worked in the bank as a window teller. In 1946, the city of Hawthorne incorporated, and she left the bank to become its first city clerk.

She returned to Minden and worked for the state of Nevada Health Division for the next 30 years, eventually becoming administrative health services officer.

She was appointed to the State Group Insurance Committee on June 24, 1967, by Gov. Paul Laxalt and served until 1986. She was active in the Gardnerville Literary Club, Western Nevada Cowbelles and numerous bridge clubs.

She was preceded in death by her brothers Donald W. Bergevin and Louis W. Bergevin.
