BISHOP CREEK AREA, CALIF: Gary Olson of the Bishop Creek Resorts (760-873-4484) sent in this report:


Intake No. 2: Was busy this weekend. Lots of nice limits with green Power Bait or using a fly and bobber with an olive or red-headed olive Matuka fly.


North Lake: Good fishing with Power Bait or Salmon eggs. Also some great reports with Stingers or Super Dupers.


South Lake: Water level is rising about a foot a day. Fishing has been fantastic and got even better on Thursday with a full-load stocking from DF&G. There were a couple dozen trophy trout which should help the size of the fish being caught.


The best baits remain Power Bait or nightcrawlers. For lures, use either Thomas Buoyant or Super Duper. Trolling has been great with a white Cultiva.


Bishop Creek: Will be stocked with Alpers Trophy Rainbow Trout this week.


Last week, a 4-pound, 5-ounce rainbow on flies, a 2-pound, 14-ounce rainbow on a yellow Stinger and a 2-pound, 13-ounce rainbow by an 11-year-old, using crickets.


Weir Pond: No report but has been good with Parachute Adams or Mosquito flies.




BISHOP CREEK AREA, CALIF: Patti Apted of the Lake Sabrina Boat Landing (760-873-7425) reported:


Sabrina Lake: The lake is coming up about a foot a day.


Plenty of limits being caught.


Shore fishing has been great with worms or Power Bait at the inlets.


Trollers using Woolly Bugger or Matuka flies in the mornings and evenings, and during the day, they are using lures with red or gold.




BLUE LAKES, CALIF. AREA: Dave Kirby of the Woodfords Station (530-694-2930) said fishermen were very successful at both Upper and Lower Blue Lakes with Power Bait or nightcrawlers.


One fly fisherman using a Woolly Bugger fly at Lower Blue Lake had great fishing. He stopped counting after 20 trout, caught and released.


Another angler with a Second Rod Stamp reported he could not use his second rod at Upper Blue Lake, because the action was so hot and furious.


Go prepared for mosquitoes.




BLUE LAKES, NEV: Will open June 12.




BRIDGEPORT RESERVOIR, CALIF: Jim Reid of Ken's Sporting Goods Store (760-932-7707) said, "It is fishing pretty well for boats stillfishing with bait. Catching a lot of fish. Trolling has slowed down."




CAPLES LAKE, CALIF: Dave Kirby reported limits of rainbows and brookies being caught, mostly on Power Bait or nightcrawlers from shore.




CARSON RIVER AREA, CALIF:


East Carson: Brad Davis at the Carson River Resort (877-694-2229) reported they saw some activity.


The East Carson river is still high and a little muddy.


Fishing was a little slower but there were a few big fish, all rainbows: A 6-pound, 1-ounce, a 4-pound, 12-ounce and a 2-pound 4-ounce.


West Carson: Dave Kirby reported that the river is in pretty good shape. A 7-pound rainbow on a silver, No. 2 Mepps spinner with 4-pound test line.


Andy Siegler, 8, and Anthony Boyd, 7, of Gardnerville, each caught two rainbows on worms.


Doug Busey of Douglas County reported that the fishing is on fire in front of the Hope Valley Store and upstream.




CATNIP RESERVOIR IN NORTHERN WASHOE COUNTY: Will open Sept. 1.




CONVICT LAKE, CALIF: Rated very good with almost any kind of bait or Thomas Buoyant or Kastmaster lures.




CROWLEY LAKE, CALIF: Susie Greilich at Kittridge Sporting Goods Store in Mammoth (760-934-7566) sent in this report: Troll 2-3 colors of leadcore line with frog or red Prism Needlefish lures. Good Midge fly fishing in 12-15 feet of water.




DAVIS LAKE, CALIF:


Sara at the Grizzly Store and Resort (530-832-0270):


Trolling has been good: Main channel to boat ramp to island at a depth of 20-25 feet with either Needlefish or Dick Nite lures.


Trolling has also been good from Lightning Tree to Fairview with the same lures.


Shore fishing has been spotty.


Fly fishing has been good with Damsels on the west side from Camp No. 5 to Cow Creek.




FEATHER RIVER AT OROVILLE, CALIF: Kirk Portocarrero reported that he is starting to catch Spring-run King Salmon. Back-trolling with Flatfish lures, between Oroville and Gridley.




HEENAN LAKE, CALIF: Will open Sept. 3.




INDIAN CREEK RESERVOIR. CALIF: Dave Kirby reported that it was very windy most of the weekend afternoons and the fishing was rated as "Fair" for the bait fishermen.


Doug Busey reported that the fly fishing is like fishing at a fish farm, beginning about 1/2 hour before sunset. The fishermen are using Woolly Bugger and Bead Head Nymph flies for rainbows up to 26 inches.


He also reported that Alpine County will host a Kids' Fishing Derby at the reservoir on Saturday. The county will plant 500 pounds of Trophy Rainbow Trout for the derby. There will also be hot dogs and soda drinks.




JUNE LAKE LOOP AREA, CALIF: Susie Greilich said:


Grant Lake: No report.


Gull Lake: Bank fish with rainbow or Captain America Power Bait.


June Lake: Troll 5-6 colors of leadcore line with Needlefish or Thomas Buoyant lures.


Silver Lake: Red/gold Thomas Buoyant lures or black or olive Woolly Bugger flies.


Rush Creek: Salmon eggs or worms.




KINNEY RESERVOIR, CALIF: Dave Kkirby reported that two youngsters, fly fishing with dry flies, caught and released a total of 10 trout.




KIRMAN (CARMEN) LAKE: Jim Reid said that they are catching some fish but the fishing is tough.




KNOTT CREEK RESERVOIR, NEV: Will open June 12.




LAHONTAN RESERVOIR, NEV: Missy Swain at Burke's Market at Silver Springs (775-577-2750) said, "The wind has been terrible. Not a lot of folks fishing and they are mostly catching and releasing. Fishing has been a little on the slow side. The Department of Wildlife had their Kids' Carp Fishing Derby on Sunday at the North Shore Marina. There were about 30 kids and the biggest carp was a 4-pounder."




MAMMOTH LAKES AREA, CALIF: Susie Greilich said:


George Lake: Use black Woolly Bugger flies or gold Kastmaster lures.


Mamie Lake: Use olive Doc's Twin Lakes Special flies.


Mary Lake: Use red/gold Thomas Buoyant or black-gold Panther/Martin lures.


Twin Lakes: A 9-pound German brown taken on a green Woolly Bugger fly.


Mammoth Creek: Use Salmon eggs or small, gold Panther Martin lures.




NORTH POND, NEV. (On the Mason Valley Wildlife Management Area): Has been drained almost dry and is unfishable.




ONION VALLEY RESERVOIR, NEV: Will open June 12.




OWENS RIVER, CALIF: Susie Greilich reported:


Benton Crossing Upstream: Slow.


Benton Crossing Downstream: Black or olive Woolly Bugger flies.




PYRAMID LAKE, NEV:


Carla Molino of the Pyramid Lake Store (775-476-0555) said that there have not been a whole lot of fishermen due to the wind and all of the summer boating activity on the lake. If you fish, come early and go to the other side of the lake. Nothing big being reported.




RED LAKE AREA, CALIF: Dave Kirby reported limits of rainbows and brookies being caught, mostly on Power Bait or nightcrawlers from shore.




SACRAMENTO RIVER, CALIF: Kirk Portocarrero of Outdoor Adventures Sport Fishing, Redding, Calif. (800-670-4448) sent in this report:


Redding to Anderson: Water release is 14,00 C.F.S. Fishing for rainbow trout is great with 15-25 fish days. Catching and releasing wild, trophy rainbows, up to 24 inches. Using Pheasant Tails, Prince Nymphs, Caddis patterns and egg patterns.


Red Bluff: 995 King Salmon have passed over the Red Bluff Diversion Dam to date. Last year, to date, there were 317 Salmon. The King Salmon season will open on July 16.




SILVER CREEK, CALIF: Brad Davis reported that it was stocked prior to the Memorial Day weekend and has been doing good for stockers under the bridges.




SHASTA LAKE, CALIF: Kirk Portocarrero reported that fishing is good with limits of King Salmon 1-4 pounds and up to 23 inches. Trolling with Shad pattern lures. Catching rainbows and Salmon in the Dry Creek Area.




LAKE TAHOE - North Shore:


Mickey Daniels of Mickey's Big Mack Charters (800-877-1462) said: "We've been catching our Mackinaw trout early in the morning and I've been tagging and releasing the smaller ones.


The fishing has been very good but nothing super big.


I troll 250-550 feet deep in the deep-water area in front of Carnelian Bay and King's Beach.


We are using silver, Herring Dodger flasher blades with live minnows or large Apex lures."


Gene St. Denis of Blue Ribbon Charters and Tahoe Trophy Trout at South Lake Tahoe, Calif. (530-544-6552) said he is trolling with a short leader, Herring Dodger flasher blades and live minnows at 110-280 feet deep.




LAKE TAHOE - South Shore:


Gene St. Denis of Blue Ribbon Charters and Tahoe Trophy Trout at South Lake Tahoe, Calif. (530-544-6552) said fishing is slow due to the full moon and warmer temperatures. Trolling in the Camp Richardson area with a short leader, Herring Dodger flasher blades and live minnows at 150-280 feet deep.




LAKE TAHOE - East Shore:


Gene St. Denis said, "Cave Rock Shelf is slow, right now, for smaller sized Mackinaws. Use a shorter leader, change your speed and bounce your minnow off the bottom."




TOPAZ LAKE: Chuck Fields of the Topaz Lake Marina (775-266-3550): Fishing has been pretty good.


They are doing excellent from shore with nightcrawlers on the southwest shore.


The boaters are drift fishing on the south end with nightcrawlers.


Olga Larson of Carson City caught a 3-pound, 10-ounce rainbow, while stillfishing at the south end with a worm.


A few 3 or 4 pounders being caught, mainly at the south end.


The trollers are staying closer to shore.




TWIN LAKES, CALIF. AREA:


Lower Twin: The Twin Lakes Resort (760-932-7751): Fishing is excellent with lots of limits.


A 7-pound, 24-inch rainbow on Power Bait.


A 5-pound, 20-inch German brown caught and released with a nightcrawler.


Brass Spin-A-Lure, Thomas Buoyant, Super Duper and Kastmaster are the lures of choice.


Sierra Gold, Salmon eggs, and inflated nightcrawlers have been the best baits.


Upper Twin: Mono Village (760-932-7071) reported a 4-pound, 9-ounce rainbow on green Power Bait, a 3-pound, 10-ounce rainbow on Salmon eggs and a 3-pound, 10-ounce rainbow on yellow Power Bait.


Robinson Creek: Fish up to 3.5 pounds being caught.




VIRGINIA LAKES, CALIF. AREA: Jim Reid reported both Big and Little Virginia Lakes were good for float tubers and shore fishermen.


A rumor of a 5-pound German brown from Big Virginia Lake.




WALKER RIVERS:


East Walker (Calif.): Fishing is still doing good, mostly with Nymph flies. Water flow is 246 CFS.


West Walker (Calif.): Still a little high and muddy. It's getting close for good fishing.


Little Walker (Calif.): Good for small rainbows and brookies worms in the Willow Flat area.




WILDHORSE RESERVOIR NEV: Dennis Dunn at the Wild Horse Resort (775) 758-6472 said, "Fishing has been excellent for Perch and Trout and the catfish are really hammering. Brian McGee of the resort was catfishing late Sunday afternoon and he caught three Channel Catfish.


The three fish weighed16-pounds, 11-ounces, 16-pounds, 3-ounces and 15-pounds, 14 ounces for a total weight of 48-pounds, 12-ounces!


He was shore fishing in one of the coves with nightcrawlers.




WILSON COMMON POND IN WASHOE VALLEY: Norm Budden and Bob "Slick" McCulloch of Carson City got skunked while fly fishing on Friday morning.




WOODS LAKE, CALIF: Dave Kirby reported the lake was planted by DF&G last Friday. Lots of wind over the weekend but almost everyone had limits.




YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK AREA, CALIF: Susie Greilich said:


Saddlebag Lake: Thomas Buoyant or gold Kastmaster lures or black or olive Woolly Bugger flies.


Lee Vining Creek: Gold Ribbed Hares' Ears flies.
