L. William Paul

A funeral Mass for L. William Paul, 86, of Carson City will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Teresa Catholic Church in its small chapel.

A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley.

Mr. Paul died Aug. 7, 2004, in Carson City. He was born Nov. 8, 1917, in Redstone, Mont., to Spurgeon E. and Grace Paul.

He graduated from the University of Wyoming School of Law in 1943.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II.

After the war, Mr. Paul practiced law in Montana and Nevada. He was Nevada's deputy attorney general for many years.

He was a member of the Nevada and Montana Bar associations and of St. Teresa Church.

He was preceded in death by his son Douglas and sister Hazel Hafdahl.

Among his survivors are his wife, Elizabeth "Bette" of Carson City; sons Larry of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Steven of Carson City; daughters Deborah Privett of American Falls, Idaho, and Teresa Dees of Carson City; sister Sarah O'Reilly of San Francisco; brother, Steven of Denver; and nine grandchildren.

Burial will be at Lone Mountain Cemetery.
