Carson takes third in NIAA standings

Carson High narrowly missed winning its second straight Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association Award of Excellence.


The award goes to the state's top overall athletic program. The award is based on a school's performance of its athletic teams during the course of the school year in NIAA competition, academics and citizenship.


Palo Verde won the 2002-2003 4A Award of Excellence, finishing with a total of 3,555 points in the three categories.


Centennial was second with 3,545 points while Carson was third with 3,500 points. Galena finished fourth with 3,465 points. Carson was the 2001-2002 4A Award of Excellence winner.
