Nevada women's basketball signs point guard

Nevada women's basketball coach Kim Gervasoni signed her first recruit, the school's media relations department announced on Wednesday.

Jocelyn Mancebo, a 5-foot-6 point guard from San Joaquin Delta College, joins three other fall signees in the Wolf Pack's recruiting class for next season.

In her freshman season at Delta College, Mancebo averaged 14 ppg, 4.9 apg, 3.0 spg and shot over 40 percent from behind-the-arc. She will be sophomore when she enrolls at Nevada in the fall.

"Her speed and athletic ability and her competitiveness will make an immediate impact for us," said Gervasoni, who was hired this spring after coach Ada Gee was fired. "She has that winning mentality that will be important for our program. She visited three other schools and found this to be a perfect fit. She really clicked with our players."

Mancebo was a Northern California all-region this past season and a first team Bay Valley conference selection. She attended St. Mary's High in Stockton, Calif.

Mancebo joins McQueen's Traci Graham, Jessica Preslar and Becki Little as Nevada's four-person class. Gervasoni came to Nevada after being an assistant coach at Arizona State University.
