Obituary: David W. Straub

A service for David W. Straub, 70, a Silver Springs resident for the past 20 years, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Silver Springs Christian Center.

Mr. Straub died March 18, 2003, at Carson-Tahoe Hospital. He was born Jan. 17, 1933, in Placerville ("Hangtown"), Calif., to Albert and Grace Riggs Straub.

He attended Grass Valley High School in Grass Valley, Calif., and Brigham Young University.

He married Crickett Straub April 7, 1979, in Incline Village at Ponderosa Ranch.

Before moving to Silver Springs, he lived in Kings Beach.

Mr. Straub was a telecommunications installer. He was a member of the Silver Springs Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion and the Carson City Pioneers of America Telecommunications Union.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Ted, Bill, Richard and Al; and daughter Cindy Straub.

Among his survivors are his wife, Crickett; sons Allen of Grass Valley and Lance Lane of Roseburg, Ore.; daughters Janice Brown, Janet Stubbs, Dina Strohm, Angie Straub, all of Grass Valley, Kimberly Bartl of Reno, Tarrie Moore of Fernley and Carrie Thomas of Victorville, Calif.; brothers Jim, Jack and Bob; 19 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriner's Hospital in San Francisco.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
