120 YEARS AGO

In the Jug Again. On Tuesday, Julia Beals was arrested on the charge of being a common drunkard and yesterday Judge Cary sent her up for 90 days. The immediate cause that led to her arrest was an attempt to bulldoze a newspaperman who recently mentioned her in his paper in terms more truthful than complimentary.

100 YEARS AGO

Died. In Empire, Nev., Jan. 29, 1903, Joseph Wolfenberger, a native of Nevada, aged 27 years. The deceased was a native of this state and has many friends in this city who will greatly regret he could not have been spared for further usefulness in this world.

70 YEARS AGO

Secretary Clara Crisler, of the Leisure Hour Club, said the meeting tomorrow would be canceled. Cecil W. Creel to speak on work of the Agricultural Extension Division, could not attend due to condition of roads between here and Reno.

50 YEARS AGO

Latest member of the Nevada Appeal staff is Bill Van de Ley, recent graduate of the University of Nevada Department of Journalism. He served with the Royal Dutch Air Force in the Far East and was a prisoner for three-and-a-half years.

20 YEARS AGO

Rate increase of 4.6 percent has been approved for customers of Sheridan Water Co. in Douglas County. Sheridan serves less than 100 customers. They had requested 56 percent.

10 YEARS AGO

Officers of the Carson City Republican Central Committee have been elected for two years. Joe DiLonardo is county chair; Don Campbell, vice chairman and Melinda Santa Cruz, secretary and Monte Fast, treasurer
