Carson rifle among best in the nation

In results recenlty announced by the U.S. Navy, Carson High's NJROTC air rifle team was ranked as one of the top clubs in the nation.


Carson was ranked in annual sporter competition sponsored by the Secretary of the Navy. Carson entered four four-person teams and ranked 20th, 39th, 82nd and 114th, respectively out of more than 700 clubs.


Out of 60 West Coast schools, Carson ranked third, eighth, 12th and 14th out of 80 teams. Carson continued its run of consistently being ranked in the top 20 in the nation.


With 11 shooters returning next year, Carson should continue it success. Individual shooters for Carson and their national rank out of more than 2,700 shooters were:


Sean Keith, 28th; Matt Neitzke, 31st; Jason Henderson, 78th; Mike Graves, 186th; Anthony Ramos, 213th; Beth Ware, 255th; Chad Gilmore and Jason Vrenon, 284th; Mark Robinson, 343rd; Sean Linehan, 387th; Dalene Argall, 529th.


Jason Hastings, 545th; Brett Bindley and Thomas Henderson, 693rd; Tasha Gonzales, 814th; and Tony Mele, 937th.
