New schedule for Karts

Champion Speedway General Manager Kris Martin recently spoke with Outlaw Go-karts President Marlow Heinz regarding a schedule change in the go-kart program.

Martin said she and Heinz both agreed the change is made in the best interest of race fans and track operations to develop a program to keep all racing divisions on schedule.

"One of the reasons is to give track officials the opportunity to clean the track and keep the races on schedule," said Martin.

"It's what the fans want -- (for us) to keep the program on schedule. We want to put on the best possible show we can and to do so, we have to stay on schedule."

This will give race fans an opportunity to see a full day of racing. If they arrive at the track at noon, they will see go-kart racing from noon to 4:30 p.m. for free. They will then be asked to exit the grandstand and pay upon reentry for the remaining scheduled events, should they choose to stay.

The pit area for the go-karts will now open at 11 a.m., engines can be fired up for practice at noon with heat races to begin at 2 p.m. All go-kart main events are to be completed by 4:30 p.m.

"If we can build the grandstand participation for the karts, eventually, maybe down the road, have a separate evening of racing for their series and their fans," said Martin.

"What a great deal for race fans, a full day of racing at Champion Speedway."
