Aaron Orlick, riding for Out of Bounds Board Shop, placed first in the giant slalom over the weekend at the USASA South Tahoe Snowboard Series at Kirkwood.


Orlick, an Eagle Valley Middle School seventh grader, won the giant slalom in the breaker boys (ages 12-13) division, His finished with a combined time of one minute, 39.25 seconds over two runs. He finished nearly 2.5 seconds faster than South Tahoe's Garret Gibb.


Orlick also placed second in the slalom. After a difficult first run, Orlick made up nearly three seconds to narrowly miss beating eventual winner Nicholas Poohacoff of South Tahoe.


Orlick has been riding for three years and is competing in his second year in the USASA Series. During the next two months, Orlick will compete in other USASA sponsored events, including boardercross, slopestyle and 1/2 pipe. The competitions will lead up to the nationals in Mammoth, Calif.
