Douglas boys defeat Spanish Springs

The Douglas High boys basketball team got off to an impressive start in a 71-36 win over Spanish Springs on Saturday.

Nick Summers scored 13 points, Luke Rippee added 12 points and Eric Emm had 11 points for the Tigers.

"They played very well," Douglas coach Keith Lewis said. "I thought we played very well defensively. We forced them into a lot of turnovers and created a lot of easy opportunities.

"We're pleased coming out of the gate. It's a good game to build on."

Douglas will travel to Fallon on Tuesday and then will play in the first round of its own tournament against Laguna Creek of the Sacramento area at 8 p.m. Thursday.
