Golf scholarship being offered

The Carson City Municipal Golf Corporation through the Eagle Valley Golf Club will offer "For the Good of the Game" scholarship.


The one-time $1,000 scholarship will be offered to a Carson City graduating senior.


To qualify, students must have at least a 3.0 grade point average and be involved in golf either through play or work. A completed application must be submitted with acknowledgement of the student's G.P.A. from a guidance counselor.


A one-page paper on activities and interests relating to golf and qualifications for the scholarship must also be submitted.


A committee of directors of the Carson City Municipal Golf


Corporation will review the applications. The committee will be composed of members who do not have a child eligible for the current year's scholarship. The committee will make the final decision.


If the funds are not used before June, 2003, they will be


returned to the Carson City Municipal Golf Corporation.


The funds may be used at a university, community college, a trade school or a specialty school.


Completed applications must be received no later than 4 p.m. April 25 at Eagle Valley's administrative office. Applications may also be mailed to:

Incomplete applications will not be considered. The successful applicant will be notified no later than April 30 and will be honored at the Carson High Scholarship Night on May 16.
