Storey inmate caught in Oregon

A Dayton man being sought after he escaped from custody in Storey County was arrested Monday afternoon by Oregon State Police.

Troy William Enloe, 30, was arrested alongside a highway in Coos County, Ore., according to Sgt. Jerry Pedersen of the Storey County Sheriff's Office.

Oregon authorities were alerted to the possibility that Enloe was in the vicinity when they discovered a Ford truck taken from a Frehner Construction Co. site in Silver City.

"The vehicle was located late Saturday night in Roseburg," Pedersen said. "There has been really thorough cooperation between our agencies. Since Saturday night they've really been souring the area and they just turned him up."

Pedersen said Enloe is being held in Oregon pending extradition back to Virginia City, where he will probably face additional auto theft charges.

Enloe was in the Storey County Jail on a gross misdemeanor charge of possession of stolen property. He was awaiting sentencing and was facing about a year in jail when he disappeared from the exercise yard on the afternoon of March 30.

Officials believe Enloe, a lifelong resident of the area, used a bed sheet to protect himself from the razor wire that lines the top of the 12-foot fence.

They believe Enloe escaped the area in the Frehner vehicle that was later found in Roseburg.

This is the first time in 10 years that someone has escaped from the jail. Officials are considering fencing over the top of the yard.
