Carson volleyball sweeps by Reno

Carson High's volleyball team used a strong passing attack to power its offense in a 15-5, 15-8, 15-12 win at Reno on Saturday.

Senator coach Daryl James said his team lost some intensity while Reno improved its play in the second and third games, but overall he was pleased with his team's effort.

"We played pretty well," James said. "Actually we passed the ball really well."

Tabitha Adams had 47 assists for Carson (4-1). "She must have been setting in good spots for us," James said. "We had a lot of kills. It goes back to passing."

Rachael DeRiemer led the attack with 18 kills, four blocks and two aces. "She had another good day for us," James said.

Shannon Devereaux had 13 kills and Megan Anderson added 12 kills and three blocks.

Among the leaders in the back row was Talia Joyce. "Talia Joyce as usual did a great job passing the ball," James said.

Terry Niederer an outstanding defensive match at the net with seven blocks and five kills, Alyssa Wilson had three blocks and Kaitlin Brush added three kills for Carson.
