Herazo adds another national title

Victoria Herazo of Carson City added one more national championship to her illustrious race walking career Saturday morning when the USA Masters Outdoor Track and Field Championships came to an end in Baton Rouge, La.

Herazo, 41, a two-time Olympian, won the women's 40-49 age group 10,000-meter race walk at Louisiana State University's Bernie Moore Track Stadium with a time of 54 minutes, 56.00 seconds that was the fastest of the day among both men and women.

The fastest of the men's championship times was Norman Frable of Texas, who won the 55-59 age division in 56:51.

Individual events at the USA Masters are conducted in five-year groups.

The final day of the meet was staged under sunny skies as the athletes competed in temperatures and humidity in the mid-80s.

The top overall highlight on Saturday was a world record in the women's 65-69 age-group 300-meter hurdles, where Barbara Jordan of Vermont won the event in 1:04.66.
