USF&WS meeting on cutthroat trout

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USF&WS) will hold a "stakeholders" meeting beginning at 6 p.m. on March 13 in Reno.

The purpose of that stakeholders meeting is to discuss the re-introduction of the Lahontan cutthroat trout into the Truckee and Walker Rivers.

Some fishermen are concerned that the re-introduction of the cutthroat trout may mean the eradication of all other fish species such as rainbow and German brown trout in those rivers.

The re-introduction discussion will be led by Bob Williams, State Supervisor for the USF&WS.

The meeting will be held in the conference room of the U.S. Dept. of the Interior building at 1340 Financial Blvd.

That building can be reached by taking McCarren Blvd. to Mill Street and then turning into Dermody Park.

For information call the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service at 861-6300 during regular business hours.
