Two Carson City men will spend time in prison after pleading guilty to drug charges.
Jose Hernandez-Garcia, 18, was sentenced to one to three years behind bars, and Porfidio Sillas-Maldonaldo, 31, will spend 19 months to 4 years, ordered Judge Michael Fondi. Their cases were not related.
Hernandez-Garcia was arrested in Dec. 3 after Tri-Net narcotics investigators caught him in the act through a surveillance operation. He pleaded guilty to a reduced charge.
Sillas-Maldonaldo was arrested during a drug sting operation on Feb. 23.
Tri-Net investigators used electronic surveillance and undercover buys to implicate Sillas-Maldonado in methamphetamine dealing and possession. He admitted guilt April 4 in a plea agreement with prosecutors.
Sillas-Maldonaldo, formerly employed as a landscaper, was arrested at his home in the 600 block of Hot Springs Road. A search of the home revealed an ounce of methamphetamine and a set of scales.
Porfidio's brother, Pablo, was arrested as part of the same investigation. He pleaded guilty April 6 to dealing and faces a possible one- to six-year prison sentence and a fine up to $5,000.
