Ms. Brigid Surbur's second grade class at Edith Fritsch Elementary School recently became Carson City's newest addition to the "Trout in The Classroom" program.
That program features the raising of rainbow trout in a classroom.
The program begins with the delivery of fertilized trout eggs. The students are then involved in the entire process from the initial receiving of the eggs to the rearing of the tiny trout to the final release of the fish into a section of the Carson River.
Edith Fritsch joins Seeliger Elementary and Eagle Valley Middle School in Carson City in this unique program designed to provide the students with an opportunity to learn about the life cycle of the rainbow trout.
The trout project at Edith Fritsch was made possible by the Truckee River Fly Fishers Club of Reno and Kevin and Jackie Baily of Carson City.
This latest Trout in The Classroom project brings a total of 36 programs to various schools spread across Northern Nevada.
