Teen book review deadline coming up

Teens who want to enter book reviews in the Douglas County Public Library's Teen Read Week have until Oct. 13 to submit their entries.

"Reading Rocks!" is the theme for the week, Oct. 18-23, according to Maria Hinsen, who is in charge of the activity at the library.

The top four entries will either be published in the R-C or read by the winners on KGVM-FM radio during Teen Read Week, Hinsen said.

Teens may write 250- to 500-word reviews of books for the contest.

The writers should include the author, title and why they did or didn't like the book they read. Sample forms are available at the library.

The entries should also include the contestant's name, phone number and age. Youths aged 12 through 17 are eligible.

All entries will be kept in the young adult section at the library for other teens to read.

Temporary tattoos and other small prizes will be given to the first teens who check out books each day during Teen Read Week.
