Howard William Mattson, 75, a Yerington resident and lifetime Northern Nevada resident, died Dec. 19, 1999, at his residence. He was born Nov. 1, 1924, in Winnemucca, to Oscar and Maroah Mattson.
He attended and graduated from school in Winnemucca.
Mr. Mattson was employed as a manager of purchasing and warehousing with the Anaconda Mining Co., retiring in March 1982. He served three years in the U.S. Navy, mostly in the South Pacific, and was discharged Christmas Day 1945.
Among his survivors are his daughters, Melissa Tibbals, of Yerington and Elizabeth Gilmore, of Marshall, Mo.; son, Michael, of Rogers, Ark.; brother, Syd Mattson, of Yerington; stepdaughter, Shari Free, of Bentonville, Ark. and numerous grandchildren.
No service will be held.
Cremation will be at FitzHenry's Crematory.
FitzHenry's Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
