Two dead, four injured in Alabama shooting

PRICHARD, Ala. - A man fatally shot the driver of a car before opening fire at a party down the road with an AK-47 assault rifle, killing another person and injuring four others, police said.

Jerrico Lindsey, 20, of Prichard was arrested Monday after turning himself in and was charged with two counts of murder and four counts of aggravated assault, said Prichard Police Chief Sammie Brown.

Brown said the shootings may have been in retaliation for a recent robbery, but it was unclear which of the victims had been targeted.

Three of the injured were treated for gunshot wounds to their arms and legs and released. The fourth was in critical condition with multiple gunshot wounds.

Police first found Michael Jackson, 29, slumped over in his car after responding to a call late Sunday. Jackson had been shot numerous times and had crashed his car into a pole.

Authorities were then called to the party about a half-mile away, where they discovered the other five victims. The second dead man was identified as 18-year-old Dale Massey.

Prichard is 5 miles northwest of Mobile.
