Three arrests in gas station robbery

A 34-year-old man suspected of conspiring with two teenage boys to commit aggravated robbery is behind bars, charged with three crimes.

Billy Weldon Wolfe, an Oregon native living at a motel in the 1700 block of North Carson Street, was arrested late Monday night for suspicion of conspiring in a robbery that had occurred at 1:42 a.m. at a gas station across the street from the motel.

Investigators suspect he planned the robbery with the boys - who are believed to have committed the robbery - while the trio drank alcohol in his motel room.

The boys were arrested shortly after the robbery had occurred. A worker at the station said the pair came into the store and punched him before taking a cash box. Witnesses at the motel where Wolfe lived said he helped open a cash box taken from the robbery.

An employee at the gas station, an Arco on the corner of Bath and Carson streets, said the man who was working behind the counter saw the boys, grew suspicious and called the department.

The boys then reportedly came in and attacked the employee before running across the street toward the Frontier Motel with about $50. Deputies arrived momentarily before cornering the suspects, the employee stated.

Wolfe was contacted later that night.

The arrest report states that while talking with deputies, he gave conflicting statements as to where he was and his involvement in the alleged crime.

Wolfe admitted that before the robbery he had been sitting in the motel room, drinking alcohol with the teenagers, reports indicate. He said he did not provide the beverages.

Wolfe was arrested on a burglary charge, as well as misdemeanor charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and failing to register as a felon. He was held in lieu of $40,000 bail.

Wolfe has made Carson City his home for three months, according to reports. The juveniles were charged with suspicion of robbery and consuming alcohol.
