Senator girls fall

The Carson girls basketball team couldn't hold on to a nine-point first half lead in losing 66-55 in overtime Tuesday at Fallon.

The Senators (2-1), though, almost overcame a four-point deficit with 25 seconds left. Katie Kotter almost had a chance to win the game in regulation on a three-point play when her shot almost went in on a foul with four seconds left. Kotter did make two clutch free throws to force a 53-53 tie and overtime.

Carson led 16-7 after one quarter and 22-13 late in the first half when Fallon went on a 13-4 run to tie the score 26-26 at halftime.

"We had a little trouble controlling the ball," Carson Coach Paul Croghan said. "We knew we'd kind of blown a good chance to get them down a little bit. Hopefully it will be something we can learn from."

Meghan Gradert led Carson with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Kotter scored 14 points and Teresa Niederer added 10 points for the Senators.
