Obituary: Sharon Adams Bankofier

A Catholic memorial service for Sharon Adams Bankofier, 64, a Winnemucca resident for the past 58 years, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Winnemucca.

A Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Friday at St. Paul's.

Mrs. Bankofier died Oct. 9, 2000 at her daughter's home in Gardnerville. She was born Feb. 1, 1936, in Nampa, Idaho, to Afton and Maisie Oswalt Adams.

She married Donald Bankofier Aug. 18, 1957, in Winnemucca.

She was a 1954 graduate of Humboldt County High School and a graduate of the Reno Business College.

Mrs. Banofier worked as a Humbolt County Courthouse employee for five years and a legal secretary for the law office of John Doyle for 29 years. She was a member of the Winnemucca Ladies Bowling League, the Winnemucca Ladies Golf Club, the Winnemucca Ladies Booster Club and the St. Paul's Catholic Church Prayer Group.

She was preceded in death by her father in 1968.

Among her survivors are her husband Donald and mother Maisie Oswalt, both of Winnemucca; daughters Tami Ashdown of Gardnerville and Teresa Benjamin of Littleton, Colo.; son Ron of Minden; brothers John Adams of Fairview, Mont., and Stefen Adams of Berkeley, Calif.; and six grandchildren.

Cremation will be at Walton's Sierra Crematory.

Inurnment will be at the Winnemucca Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to a memorial fund at the Humboldt County Library, 85 East Fifth St., Winnemucca 89445.

Walton's Douglas County Mortuary, Minden, is in charge of arrangements.
