Obituary: Marie E. Alvarez

A Mass of Resurrection for Marie E. Alvarez, 62, a Gardnerville resident for the past three years, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Gall Catholic Church, Gardnerville, with Father Bill Nadeau celebrant.

Mrs. Alvarez died Dec. 7, 2000 at Carson-Tahoe Hospital. She was born April 3, 1938, in Los Angeles to Louis and Margaret Delagreco Damiano.

Before moving to Gardnerville, she lived in Stanton, Calif.

She married Valentine Alvarez Sept. 19, 1956, in Downey, Calif.

Mrs. Alvarez was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Gall Catholic Church. She was an accomplished artist and her work is known throughout the United States. She enjoyed traveling and had traveled all over the world. She was an excellent cook and she always had time to help others.

Among her survivors are her husband Valentine of Gardnerville; sons Val of Gardnerville and Charles of Carson City; daughter Margarita Allington of Palmdale, Calif.; brothers Louis Damiano of Lake Los Angeles, Calif. and Joseph Damiano of Placerville, Calif.; and grandchildren Jason, Louis, James, Adam, Danny and Katie.

Cremation will be at FitzHenry's Crematory.

Inurnment will be at Eastside Memorial Park, Minden.

Fitzhenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home, Gardnerville, is in charge of arrangements.
