Obituary: Lt. Col. Gerald (Jerry) Freeman

Lt. Col. Gerald (Jerry) Freeman, U.S. Army (retired), 94, died Oct. 2, 2000, at Brooks Army Medical Center.

He lived in Washoe Valley for 27 years. In 1987, he moved to the Army Residence Community, San Antonio, Texas.

Colonel Freeman retired Nov. 1960 after 24 years of military service in Portugal, Germany, France, The Pentagon, Panama Canal Zone and the Cincinnati Ordinance Office.

He was a life member of the Retired Officers Association and a charter member of the Carson City chapter. He was a life member of the Nevada State Firemen's Association and an active member of the Washoe Valley Volunteer Fire Department.

Among his survivors is his wife of 45 years, Nita.

Inurnment will be at the Columbarium at The National Cemetery, Fort Sam Houston, Texas.

Memorial Funeral Home, San Antonio, is in charge of arrangements.
