Haunted Houses around Carson Country

Trick-or-treating will be Oct. 31, but the haunted houses will be going full blast in the days leading up to Halloween.

Through Oct. 31 - Carson City Jaycees annual Haunted House of Horror, 5 p.m. to midnight today-Saturday.; 2-9 p.m. Sunday; 5-11 p.m. Monday-Tuesday. Cost $5 per person, located in Frontier Plaza on North Carson Street (former Bike Brothers office space).

Oct. 28 - Oct. 31 - Carson Valley 20-30 Club Terror 2000 Haunted House, 6-10 p.m. each night (6-8:30 p.m. Saturday) at the former Gorman's Ranch Market, Tillman Shopping Center, Gardnerville Ranchos. Adults $5 ($1 off with a canned food donation), children $3. Call 782-3729.

Oct. 28 - Cub Scout Pack No. 33 Haunted House and Halloween Celebration, 5:30-9 p.m. at Johnson Lane Volunteer Fire Department, 1450 Stephanie Way, Minden. Entry is $1, 5 or younger free. Proceeds benefit Pack 33. Call Scott Weisenthal at 267-0742.

Oct. 29-31 - Eighth annual Trick or Treat Town, 5-9 p.m. each night at the Children's Museum of Northern Nevada, 813 N. Carson St. Cost is $2 per child. Costumes encouraged. Free Indian Ghost Storyteller Monday; ballet performance Tuesday at 6 p.m. Call 884-2226.

Oct. 31 - Halloween at the Governor's Mansion featuring a magic show, beginning at sundown and lasting until 8:30 p.m.

Oct. 31 - Free Halloween Festival at the Carson Mall, 10:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. features coloring contest, spooky stories, Flutter-By the Magic Clown, face painting, decorating of tombstones, costume design, decorating of pumpkins, decorations and more. Call 887-2290, ext. 101.

Oct. 31 - Virginia City's "Ghost Town," features ghost walks at 5:13, 7:13, 9:13 and 11:13 p.m., haunted wine tours, "Macbeth in Leather" at Piper's Opera House, Haunted Hallways at Fourth Ward School and more. Call 847-0311.
