Clara Elizabeth Fitz

January 2, 1938 - April 27, 2023

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Clara Elizabeth Fitz, who passed away on April 27th, 2023, at the age of 85.

Born on January 2nd, 1938, in Chico, California, she grew up in Fallon, Nevada, and later resided in Carson City, Nevada, where she worked many years for the State of Nevada in various capacities, including the Chief of Administrative Services for the Department of Motor Vehicles. She raised and was a dedicated and loving mother to her daughters, Karen Fitz and Jeanette Maiss.

Clara Fitz lived a fulfilling life and was a woman of many talents. She had a passion for cooking and baking, and her homemade dishes were always the highlight of family gatherings. She also was an avid chorus singer and vocalist in her younger years. She enjoyed traveling, listening to live music, solving crossword puzzles, and playing cards with her grandson in her free time. Her grandchildren were the lights of her life, and we are grateful she was able to meet her great granddaughter before her passing.

Clara Fitz was a kind and generous soul, always putting others’ needs before her own. Her love and compassion extended to all those who knew her, and she will be remembered for her infectious smile and warm and sweet personality. She was an inspiration and a shining light to her family and friends.

Clara is preceded in death by her daughter, Karen Fitz; grandson, Jared Page; brothers, George and Walter Class; and parents Leola and Walter Class.

She is survived by her daughter, Jeanette Elaine Maiss (Eric Maiss); granddaughter Jordan Ashlee Page (Brandon Frankel); and great granddaughter, Noelle Claire Frankel; sister, Sandy Collins (James Collins); brother, John Class; and nephew, Johnny Gladwill (Maya Gladwill); who will miss her dearly.

A private funeral service will be held for family and friends at Waltons Funeral Home on Monday, May 22, 2023, at 2:30pm, located at 600 W 2nd Str., Reno, NV 89503. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Dementia Society of America in memory of Clara Elizabeth Fitz. Rest in peace, dear mother. You will forever be in our
hearts and memories.
